Showcasing the New Zealand Agriculture Industry Study Tour, 12-26 June 2025

This open registration study tour is designed for faculty and students keen to learn more about New Zealand’s agricultural industry. It may serve as an exploratory tour for faculty pending future faculty led tours or for students wishing to be more globally aware.  New Zealand’s reputation in agriculture is highly respected and recognised globally. 

15 days in country travelling throughout the South Island, New Zealand's key agriculture heartland.

Proposed itinerary

  • 12 June: Meet in the city of Christchurch for welcome, industry overview, group dinner.
  • 13 June: Travel north to watch a cattle sale in action, a farm tour and wine tasting experience.
  • 14 June: Local farm visits in the Canterbury region with regenerative focus.
  • 15 June: Deer farm visit (NZ’s #1 exporter and breeder of red deer).
  •  16 June: High country sheep and beef stations (ranches) in the beautiful Tekapo and Mt Cook region.
  • 17 June: Cropping day.
  • 18 June: Milk Processing and dairy industry visits.
  • 19 June: Research and Innovation day. University campus visit.
  • 20 and 21 June: Farm stay with host families.
  • 22: June own time in Christchurch city.
  • 23 June: Meeting with Associate Minister of Agriculture and Federated Farmers senior leaders to talk politics, policy and advocacy.
  • 24 and 25 June: Attend the national Primary Industries Convention.
  • 26 June: End of program.

Some days visits may change in order.

Registrations close 30 April 2025 or until maximum number reached.

Application form for students to complete. Faculty share link to profile. Zoom meeting for all applicants. Cost USD3350 – 3825 subject to numbers. Includes all expenses (twin share). Participants to  cover some lunches and dinners.

Participants must be studying or teaching in agricultural sciences.
